We rode through agricultural region. Lots of bell peppers, lemons, etc. The course elevation map indicated 3,000 gain, with the last 35 miles all up hill, but in reality it seemed pretty tame on the bike. We road a lot of miles along highway, but we had a tailwind. We had to jump a barrier due to road construction.
I road strongly in the second group, but was suspicious I had to work a bit harder than some of the other guys. Time will tell.
Had a very good massage after ride. Next one in two days.
Yea for a good start!
